- Who I am?
I am James Guertin, PE, CEM, DBA as UTS Energy Engineering, a sole proprietor that provides two online classes each semester: Fall and Spring. These classes are Basic Energy Auditing and Advanced Energy Auditing. I collect information from or about you to market my energy auditing classes, and hopefully sign you up to take a class of mine.
- How do I collect your data?
I collect information about you when you call or email me. I may also obtain your email address through professional organizations such as LinkedIn, ASHRAE, AEE, various DOE web sites, Utility contractor related websites and from folks I have formed a professional relationship.
- What data do I collect?
I collect your name and e-address to include in my email list, which I send updated information about my classes, typically twice a year, to make you aware of upcoming classes.
- How do I use your data?
If you pay for a class by credit card I send you a link via Square (https://www.squareup.com/official-site) where you complete their form and I receive payment from them. I do not collect your credit card information. After the transaction, I simply copy and paste the receipt information Square sends me to a receipt that I sent to you.
Otherwise, I use your email address to update you on class scheduling.
I do not share your data or email address with anyone/thing.
- What is my purpose and legal basis for collecting your personal data?
To market my classes and to enroll you in my class(es).
- With whom do I share personal data?
No one. Although it is my practice to allow you to greet your classmates and describe why you are taking the class.
- For how long do I retain your data?
I continuously maintain my marketing email list and keep your email address until you tell me to unsubscribe or I stop providing classes. When I stop providing classes, I will delete my email list. To unsubscribe, you can click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of my marketing email by contacting me at the email link, or call me at the phone number provided.
- How do I transfer your data?
I only transfer your email address, and sometimes your name, to my email list.
- What are your rights in connection with personal data?
Request to unsubscribe from my marketing email list. Your name and email address are the only information that I collect from you. If you enroll in one of my classes besides your email address, I also collect your phone number and place of business to assist me in sending you information on the class(es) you are taking.
- Security
The security and integrity of your personal information are very important to me. I do not share it with anyone, other than your name and email address, which we share via email CC with your classmates.
- Changes
If I change anything discussed above, I will email you with the updated information.
